About the Author
Helllo! This is Alyssa Jean Tamko. Thanks for visiting my page! I have been a lover of the fantasy genre in all its forms since as long as I can remember, and have been writing it since as long as I've known how to write. Daughter of the Sun, the first in a three book series, is my first completed novel. It has not been a short and easy journey. I began the early drafts of the book in 2003, and finished the first complete draft ten years later, in 2013. Another five years after that and Daughter of the Sun is finally out there. You may have even noticed if you read my novel when it was first released, I was living as male when I first published it! Long journey indeed!
My biggest influence in the early stages of the writing was no doubt the Earthsea books by Ursula K. LeGuin. In fact, my character Ja-Ded, probably started off as a lose approximation of Ged, the lead character in those Earthsea books. But then Princess Gabriella came along and asserted herself as the lead character and everything changed. Some of my other influences in the latter stages of writing include the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima, the Graceling Trilogy by Kristin Cashore, and Seraphina by Rachael Hartman. If you have any other questions or comments about myself, my writing, or the book Daughter of the Sun itself, or if you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve my website, feel free to reach out by clicking on the "Get in Touch" button below, and I will do my very best to respond.
